All FFARQ kittens and cats will be eligible to be placed up for adoption once they meet all the following conditions:
F3 vaccination (at least 1 - which must be current if at Petbarn)
Up to date flea and worming treatment
Desexed
males are available for adoption +1 day after desexing
females +14 days after desexing
(note - there may be instances where a female can be placed up for adoption 10 days after adoption, but only after the vet has cleared them for adoption).
No health issues such as ringworm, cat flu
Some fosters may be eligible for adoption if they have a known health condition that will be included in the cat's profile when placed up for adoption
Toilet trained
Socialised
Note - not all kitties will be outgoing and friendly, they may take some time to adjust to a new environment, this should not stop them being made available for their adoption, as not everyone wants an outgoing energetic kitty!
Once the Cat Coordinator changes the kitties status as 'available for adoption' on Shelter Manager the kittie will have a profile on the Pet Rescue website
The profile will also appear on the FFARQ website
These profiles are developed from the photographs and profile you complete, so it is important to make sure the pictures are engaging, current and show your beautiful foster at their best. The profile should be engaging, accurately describe their personality, likes and dislikes.
The Foster Carer Coordinator manages the enquiries from PetRescue and FFARQ websites. If the kitten is at Petbarn, the enquirer is directed to the Petbarn store; if it is a home adoption, the foster carer will be notified and asked to contact the enquirer to let them know more about the kitten.
While most kittens get adopted quickly there are some that for various reasons take longer than most.
If they are not adopted, the foster carer takes them back and home adoption is used. There is the option to go back to Petbarn, after a few weeks break at the foster carers home.
The Foster Carer Coordinator and the Digital Marketing team will work with you on a social media campaign. Having great photos, videos and details in the kitten’s profile really assists with promoting fosters.
