Home Adoption
If it has been decided that the best adoption method for your kitten is from home, your kitten will be promoted on theFFARQ and PetRescue websites (there may also be social media campaigns.) Please feel free to promote through your own social media channels as well.
When an enquiry is received the Foster Carer Coordinator will reply letting them know the foster carer will be in contact. The email is forwarded to the foster carer, with a follow up text or call asking that the foster carer makes contact with the enquirer as soon as possible.
In the email the enquirer is asked to complete an Expression of Interest (EOI) form (the foster carer needs to check that this has been completed and received by the Foster Carer Coordinator before proceeding to meet the adopter). This form outlines the responsibility of cat ownership and asks questions related to their home and family environment.
Once the EOI has been received and approved, the foster carer is asked to arrange a meeting with the enquirer.
Before the potential adopter arrives, think about the best location for them to meet the kitten. Foster carers will be able to observe the interaction with the kitten, which will help determine if the foster carer believes they are a suitable match. The adoption decision is up to the foster carer.
If the foster carer doesn't believe they are a good match, or are not suitable adopters, they should not go ahead with the adoption. This is a very rare occurrence and the foster carer should call their Foster Carer Coordinator for guidance.
If the adoption is to go ahead, and the adopter has all the required 'equipment' (food bowls, litter trays, litter, food, bedding and toys) then they can proceed with the adoption by making the adoption payment to the account below.
ask that they forward the receipt or screenshot to your phone and then forward to your Foster Carer Coordinator
Bank: Commonwealth Bank Australia
BSB: 064 448
Account No: 1028 6554
Account Name: Furry Friends Animal Rescue Qld
Reference for deposit should be "animal's name" and "your last name". Please email your bank reference info to our treasurer if you would like to receive a donation tax receipt.
Your kitten is adopted!!!! Notify your Coordinator, so that they can send a congratulations email to the adopter, including the treatment summary (food, last flea and worm treatment), vaccination and desexing certificates.
All FFARQ adoptees are on a two week trial, meaning the adopter can return the kitten during this time and receive a full refund. In the rare instance that this occurs, it is expected the foster carer will continue to foster the kitten.
Once the two week period has elapsed the vet bookings team will arrange the change of ownership details with the microchip, and send the final documentation to the new owner.
