If you get ringworm, do not panic, get yourself to the chemist and get some non-prescription antifungal cream and start applying every day. The cream will start working within 24 hours.
IF, you feel you have a bad case, or suspect an infection and need stronger medication, make a doctor's appointment.
Remember ringworm is not always round with a ring around it, below are some examples.
It is recommended your wear long pants and a long sleeve shirt if possible to avoid dropping further spores around the house, although the cream will also act as a barrier.
Cleaning is Critical - F10 disinfectant is your friend
Now that you have ringworm, you have moved the spores from the kitten space to your home. So the start of your cleaning adventure begins now!!
Strip your bed and carefully carry everything to the laundry.
Move all soft furnishings to the laundry (blankets on your couch, bathmats, kitchen towels, bathroom towels etc)
Put your laundry on a hot wash, and add Canesten laundry rinse to the wash (after the wash cycle) you can also use Dettol laundry rinse
Hang your washing on the line in the sun all day.
If you do not have a clothes line, then put it in a very hot dryer. When finished, spray the inside of the dryer with F10 and wipe it down, and remove the dryer lint filter, gently clean it and spray with F10 and let sit for 10 minutes, and make sure it is dry before putting back in the dryer.
Vacuum your entire house, every room you have been in.
Give your couch and bed a very thorough vacuum. You can spray your bed and couch with an F10 mix, but this will leave it damp, so suggest doing it in the morning so it has time to dry.
Clean all floors, using the same protocol as cleaning the kitten area.
