Your foster carer co-ordinator will ensure you have clear requirements on treatment for kittens when they arrive.
Depending on the age of the kitten or cat, you will receive an Individual Care Plan from your Foster Carer Coordinator - prior to the arrival of your new foster/s.
Depending on the age of the cat or kitten you will have two options for worming (Drontal for kittens 2 - 8 weeks and topical treatment for kittens 8 weeks +). Follow the Individual Care Plan to ensure you use the correct worming method.
Flea and worm drops will be provided to you (unless you wish to purchase them as a donation to Furry Friends). The treatment plan will guide you on the frequency and method.
Flea and worm medication does not treat tapeworms. FFARQ use a tablet called Popantel. This is only to be used for kittens 8 weeks +. Note the dosage - 1 tablet is 1 per 10 kg, so an appropriate slice of the tablet needs to be cut for a dose, depending on the kitten’s weight. FFARQ will send you this medication.
If you are receiving pound kittens, you will need to ensure you have your area set up for a medicated intake bath (Malaseb). You must follow the guidelines for the bath.
